Heavy equipment surface preparation — rust and coating removed
Strip to Bare Metal

Rust, Mill Scale,
Coatings — Gone.

Whether you're dealing with structural steel covered in mill scale, a rusted-through trailer frame, powder-coated patio furniture ready for refinish, or industrial equipment waiting on primer — we strip it all in a single pass.

Dustless Blasting® doesn't just clean the surface. It physically removes rust, mill scale, old paint, and coating layers, exposing structurally sound metal underneath with the right anchor profile for new primer or powder coat. No chemical converters that leave compromised metal in place. No grinding. No multi-stage stripping.

Spring 2026 update: Nebraska winters are brutal on outdoor metal. Salt, snow melt, and freeze-thaw cycles drove moisture into existing coatings — and May is when most of that damage shows up as flaking paint, bubbling powder coat, and rust blooming under finishes. Trailers, fences, structural steel, fleet equipment, and ag implements are all due for post-winter restoration. Booking 1–2 weeks out.

  • Surface rust to deep corrosion — both come off cleanly
  • Mill scale on new steel — fabricated parts ready for coating
  • Powder coat & old paint — even the toughest finishes come off
  • Galvanized & zinc plating — full or partial removal as needed
  • Structural steel, beams, trailers, equipment — any scale
How Rust Removal Works

From Rusted
to Coat-Ready.

Four steps. No multi-day shop stays. No guessing on timing.

01

Send Photos

Show us what you've got — rust depth, coating type, surface size. We'll quote within 24 hours.

02

Setup On-Site

Mobile rig comes to your location. Steel fab shop, ag operation, jobsite — wherever the metal lives.

03

Strip in One Pass

Pressure tuned to substrate. Rust, scale, paint, and coatings off simultaneously. Bare metal exposed.

04

Coordinate Coating

Bare metal flash-rusts in humidity. We time the strip with your painter or coater for clean handoff.

Removal vs Treatment

Why Removal Beats
Rust Treatment.

Most rust products convert or hide the problem. We physically remove it.

Rust Treatment / Encapsulation

  • Compromised metal stays in place under the coating
  • Chemical converters leave inconsistent surface profile
  • Existing coating thickness adds instead of resetting baseline
  • Rust often returns within 1–3 years on structural pieces
  • Chemicals are messy, slow-curing, and environmentally questionable

Dustless Blasting Removal

  • Removes compromised material — exposes sound metal
  • Uniform anchor profile for primer/coating adhesion
  • Resets to bare metal — true coating thickness baseline
  • Long-lasting — rust can't return through what's no longer there
  • Eco-safe — water-suppressed, no toxic chemicals
Rust Removal FAQ

Common Questions.
Real Answers.

What did winter do to my outdoor steel and equipment?
Nebraska winters are brutal on outdoor metal. Salt, snow melt, repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and humidity drive moisture into existing coatings and accelerate corrosion. May is when most of that damage becomes visible — flaking paint, bubbling powder coat, rust blooming under finishes on trailers, fences, structural steel, and outdoor equipment. We're booking 1–2 weeks out for post-winter rust removal across Nebraska. Send Kevin a photo to lock in your window before summer projects compete for the schedule.
Can you strip rust to bare metal in one pass?
Yes. Dustless blasting removes rust, mill scale, old paint, and coating layers simultaneously in a single pass. There's no need for multiple stripping rounds, chemical rust converters, or grinding. The result is a bare metal surface with a uniform anchor profile, ready for primer, powder coat, or paint application the same day.
What's the difference between rust removal and rust treatment?
Rust treatment products (chemical converters, encapsulators) chemically convert surface rust into a stable compound but leave the corroded substrate underneath. Dustless blasting physically removes the rust and any compromised material, exposing the structurally sound metal beneath. For long-lasting results, removal beats treatment every time — especially on structural steel, frames, and load-bearing components.
Can you remove powder coat?
Yes. Powder coat is one of the toughest finishes to remove, but dustless blasting strips it cleanly without warping the underlying metal. Common powder coat removal jobs include patio furniture, wrought iron railings, automotive parts, motorcycle frames, and architectural metalwork. We often work with metal fabricators and powder coating shops who need legacy finishes off before re-coating.
Do you handle structural steel and beams?
Yes. Structural steel — I-beams, columns, plates, weldments — is regular work. Mill scale, surface rust, and old coatings come off cleanly to reveal the base metal with a proper surface profile for primer adhesion. We handle both shop-fabricated steel and on-site structural work, including agricultural buildings, industrial facilities, and commercial construction.
What about galvanized or coated metal?
Galvanized coatings, zinc plating, anodized finishes, and other surface treatments can all be removed with dustless blasting. Pressure is dialed down for thinner coatings to avoid removing more material than necessary. We discuss the goal up front — whether it's full strip, coating-only removal, or surface texture matching — and adjust accordingly.
How soon can I primer or powder coat after blasting?
Same day, ideally within 4–6 hours of blasting. Bare metal flash-rusts quickly when exposed to humidity, especially after dustless blasting since water is part of the process. We recommend having primer or coating ready to apply as soon as we wrap up. For larger jobs, we coordinate timing with your painter or coating applicator so there's no surface contamination window.
